ONE man has been arrested and another remains at large as part of an investigation into an allegation of assault and false imprisonment.

The alleged offence took place at a flat in Park Road, South Moor, Stanley, in the early hours of Sunday, and it was reported at 10am that day.

Officers have now arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of suspicion of grievous bodily harm and false imprisonment.

He is currently helping police with their enquiries.

Police have appealed for help to trace 22-year-old Ryan Mansfield, who is believed the frequent the Stanley and Durham areas in connection with the investigation.

Acting Inspector Dave Clarke said: “An incident was reported to the police in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“A serious assault has taken place in a flat in South Moor and an investigation is ongoing.

“All of the persons are known to each other and there was no risk to the wider public at any time.

“We would ask anyone with any information or any witnesses to contact police.”

Anyone with information should contact Durham Police on 101 quoting incident number 144 of November 19.
