A CAR crashed in the early hours and hit a lamppost before rolling down an embankment.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the serious crash in Stanley which involved a silver Subaru Impreza.
The accident happened on Spencer Close at around midnight this morning.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "The Subaru is believed to have collided with a lamppost and left the road, coming to rest down an embankment".
- Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 003 of October 4.
