AN elderly man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by a lorry.

The 80-year-old pedestrian suffered a suspected broken pelvis following the collision on the A693, near Beamish Museum, Stanley, County Durham.

Police were called at 11.45am and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
