RESIDENTS came together for their third annual street party to raise money for charity.

Every year, Cloverhill Court, Stanley comes to a standstill as residents come together for a themed street party for Cancer Research.

Organiser Lisa Temple said: “We had a great day at our party and had special guest Lady Elsie Robson who kindly sent off the first balloon in memory of our friend and neighbour Julie Holmes who sadly lost her battle to cancer on the April 8, 2017”.

Entertainment included a live band Punk Pop Disaster, to fit with their Rock ‘n’ Roll theme as well as bouncy castles, face painting, barbecue and raffle.

Fellow resident Paul Barlow with a cycle ride from London to Stanley, raising more than £1000 in sponsors.

Ms Temple added: “The journey took him 22 hours and is such an achievement to his family, friends and all of us at Cloverhill Court.”

Last year, the independent street party raised £2147.20 for the charity and although residents are still counting, they believe this year’s total will have beaten that figure by several hundred pounds.
