ACTOR and singer Chris Beattie is performing at a charity concert in aid of little boy battling leukaemia.

The 32-year-old star of Purely Belter and Byker Grove will be at East Stanley Workingmen’s Club in County Durham on April 27.

The evening is for five-year-old Alfie Taylor who is currently being treated for the blood cancer.

He has had 11 months of intensive intravenous chemotherapy treatment in five stages.

Alfie needs tablets and injections at home, has spent 45 nights in hospital, and is now “in maintenance” until September 2019.

Mr Beattie, from Sunderland, said: “Alfie is a little fighter and an inspiration to us all and I just wanted to do something nice to help him and others.”

Alfie’s family and friends are fundraising to send him to Walt Disney World in Florida when he is given the all-clear.

There will be live entertainment on the night with six vocalists, including Mr Beattie, who performs as Chris Johns, along with Brandon James, Peter Kelly, Mea Deen, Hazel and Fiktion.

The evening starts at 7pm and is being organised with the Bringing Back a Smile charity. Entry to the show is £3.
