A PENSIONER who was seriously injured when she was struck by a car has died.
Retired nurse Anne Tregoning was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after the accident, which happened in Stanley on Thursday evening.
The 89-year-old was struck by a Citroen Berlingo near to East Stanley Methodist Church at around 6.30pm.
Mrs Tregoning died in hospital over the weekend with her family at her bedside.
They said Anne was much loved by friends and family, and asked for privacy at this sad time.
