MUSEUM visitors can do their bit on the Home Front during a four-day festival dedicated to the Second World War.
Dig For Victory takes place at Beamish Museum’s 1940s farm starting on September 1, telling the story of the vital support role played by the British countryside during the war.
The farm will host threshing and tractors, Land Girls and Lumberjills, blacksmithing and wartime beauty tips, while visitors can take part in Home Guard drills.
Gemma Stevenson, from Beamish Museum, said: “This is an opportunity for us to give a taster of life on the Home Front, to show what a difference ordinary folk could make and just how much they could support the war effort in their own back gardens.”
