A STREET party to celebrate the start of the summer holidays has raised more than £2,000 for charity.
Hundreds of people attended the Clover Hill Court fun day in Craghead, near Stanley, on Saturday.
The event with a theme of Cowboys and Indians included a bucking bronco, wigwam saloon, cocktail bar, shooting range, bouncy castle and a food tent.
The event was organised by Northumbrian Water worker Lisa Temple, who started fundraising the day before with a booze draw and cake sale for colleagues - raising more than £400.
Further cash was raised on the day through a small charge for stalls, along with the sale of raffle and tombola tickets.
The annual event, the third of its kind, raised a grand total of £2,147 for Cancer Research - smashing last year’s total of £1,080.
Organisers have thanks families and friends for their support, as well as local businesses PED Decorative Gardening Services, Hair by Georgia, Nails that Sparkle, Charlton Fencing and Jackson’s Stone Masonry.
