A COMMUNITY theatre company is preparing for its latest show.
West Side Story is being performed by Astravaganza Entertainment at Stanley Civic Hall.
The drama between two rival gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, will be played out in the Alun Armstrong Theatre.
It loosely retells Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet tragedy of feuding families, but is set in the late 1950s in New York’s upper west side.
A company spokesman said: “We have a very talented cast of young performers who have been rehearsing twice a week for several months to master the difficult score and the complicated choreography.”
West Side Story runs from Tuesday, June 21, to Saturday, June 25, at 7.15pm each evening.
Tickets cost £10 or £12 and can be booked on 01207-299110 or 07787- 566850.
