A CHARITY night in aid of a seriously ill youngster has been organised by a north Durham art gallery.

The White Room Gallery and Coffee Shop is holding a fundraiser to help three-year-old Daniel Rainbow, from Stanley.

He is undergoing treatment for neuroblastoma and his family is raising money to send him to America.

The White Room, on Station Road, in Stanley, which opened in January, is hosting an acoustic concert on Sunday, May 8, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Musicians include Chris Kelly, Tony Hughes, Allen Crawford and Jack Burness.

The gallery is the brainchild of artist and retired primary school teacher Cath Gilbert.

Her husband Paul Gilbert, a picture framer, said: “When I heard about what that little lad was going through and realised he was the same age as my grandson it really got to me and I knew we had to do something to help.”

Tickets for the fundraiser are £4 in advance from the gallery and the suggested donation is £6 on the door. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available and people are free to bring their own wine or beer.

The gallery is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, and features work by local artists. The fundraiser is the first in a series for little Daniel.
