The car hit a water hydrant during a police chase (52225664)
A DRIVER is to be questioned after hitting a water hydrant and crashing during a police chase.
The 34-year-old man, from the east Durham area, was arrested on suspicion of road and drugs offences on the A693 at Beamish, near Stanley, shortly after 10pm last night.
He is currently in custody at Durham City police station where he will be interviewed by officers.
The motorist, who had been in a dark coloured Audi, was uninjured.
