A TEENAGE girl has organised a charity walk to raise money to help cancer patients.

Thirteen-year-old Leah Middleton, the current Junior Miss Newcastle, is raising funds for The Christie Charity with the event next month.

Leah, who is from the Dipton area of County Durham, but recently moved to Ponteland where she goes to school, is taking part in the Miss Galaxy finals in February.

Her walk is on Sunday December 13 from 12pm-3pm in the Derwent Walk Country Park with Christmas activities at Swalwell Football Club.

It costs £3 to meet Santa Claus and £3 to take part in the walk and a quiz.

There will be carol singers, mince pies, mulled wine and a craft stall.

Leah said: “All the money I raise will be given to The Christie Charity.

“This charity is associated with the pageant and I decided to help because I want to make a big difference to people with cancer.

“I'm always looking for more appearances and events to attend, so please get in touch if you would like me to help.

“I've had an amazing journey so far and can't wait to see what will happen next.”
