A NEWLY refurbished gym in north Durham has been revealed to members.

The Lifestyle Fitness gym at The Louisa Centre, Stanley, has recently undergone a period of refurbishment.

It is part of a Durham County Council project to update the leisure facilities and bring services together by relocating the Stanley Customer Access Point (CAP) and Stanley Library into the centre.

Stephen Howell, head of service for culture and sport at Durham County Council, said: “Durham County Council is working hard to improve services for residents and this is the first phase of an exciting co-location project.

“This aspect will continue to help encourage residents to be more active and lead a healthy lifestyle. It is anticipated that the library and CAP will follow in spring 2016.”

The gym has been equipped with the latest cardiovascular equipment as well as fixed resistance and free weights.

Karen Wheatley, the Louisa Centre’s facilities manager, said: “We’re delighted that this phase of refurbishment is now complete. The gym looks fantastic and offers a huge range of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.”

Inclusive memberships also include access to selected fitness classes and public swim sessions.
