A TRIAL date has been agreed in what is expected to be a contested case of a motorist whose car left a road resulting in serious injuries being suffered by at least two of his passengers.
Shaun Allan Brown was at the wheel of a Peugeot car, which lost control on the A693, at New Kyo, near Stanley, County Durham, striking a kerb and lamppost before overturning down an embankment.
All three passengers were injured, two suffering multiple fractures, in the accident, at about 1am on March 15.
The 30-year-old defendant, of Westfields, Stanley, is charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He appeared at a preliminary hearing in the case at Durham Crown Court today (Tuesday September 22) when dates were agreed for further proceedings in the case.
A trial of up to four days was set down to start, on February 16, while the defendant was bailed to return to the court for a plea hearing, on Wednesday December 9.
