A COMMUNITY street party to celebrate the start of the summer holidays has raised more than £1,000 for charity.
More than 120 people attended the Clover Hill Court fun day in Craghead, near Stanley, on Saturday.
As well as children’s games and a bouncy castle, there were stocks, a barbecue, tombola and raffle.
It was organised by Lisa Temple and Julie to raise money for Cancer Research as various family members and friends have been battling the disease.
Resident Tony Teasdale, 39, who helped with the arrangements, said: “It was a brilliant day and everybody had a good time. There was all sorts going on and it was all for a good cause.
“It went on all day, lasting around ten-and-a-half hours. There were a few sore heads the morning after though.
“The weather was not too bad, but it was a bit windy. We almost lost the gazebo a few times but we managed.”
