VISITORS to a nature reserve will be able to see an age-old agricultural practice in action.

Horses are being brought into the Chapman’s Well reserve at Quaking Houses, near Stanley to help clear the bracken.

The horse-powered bracken management sessions are taking place this week and next week as part of the Heathland Heartlands project.

Visitors will be able to see the horses in action on Thursday, June 25 and Wednesday, July 1 at 10.30am each day.

Members of the public will not only be able to meet the animals and learn about the process, but can also learn more about the mammals, birds and insects living on the reserve and what the Heathland Heartlands project is doing to help them.

Visitors should meet at the heath entrance opposite the Community Centre on Fourth Street, Quaking Houses at 10.30am.
