A PUB in Stanley has reopened today (Friday, April 24) following a £300,000 makeover.

The Hill Top on East Street has been taken over Spirit Pub Company and reopened as a Flaming Grill pub.

The chain has kept on 12 existing staff and taken on eight more.

As part of the investment, the pub has undergone a complete refurbishment with new décor, furniture and kitchen equipment.

There is also a new chargrill menu focused on steaks and grills served on hot skillets that sizzle and aim to bring a touch of theatre to the dish. ¬

Manager Emma Mahoney, 39, from Low Fell, said: “My team and I are really excited about the new features of the pub, especially the new menu.

“We’re sure that regulars and new guests alike will be impressed with the improved look and feel of the Hill Top.”

Miss Mahoney is also looking to recruit new staff as the business develops.

She added: "I am on the lookout for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals with a passion for great food who want to join our fantastic team at the Hill Top.”

The Spirit Pub Company owns and operates around 800 managed pubs across the country.
