GAS engineers have disconnected a suspected illegal fuel supply to a house in the North-East.
Police and staff from the Northern Gas Network arrived in Burnhope, near Stanley, in County Durham, this morning at around 9am.
A 29-year-old man who lived at the property, on Front Street, is being has been arrested on suspicion of the theft of gas.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary, said: “Northern Gas Network has dug up the gas supply and capped it off.”
Northern Gas Network declined to comment when contacted by the Northern Echo.
