BEAMISH bosses are appealing to people to nominate their 1950s house to be replicated at the popular open-air museum.

The outdoor attraction, in County Durham, is developing a 1950s town and wants the public to decide which style of 1950s semi-detached social housing should be included.

People can nominate their current house or a previous home.

The winner will be decided by a public vote and whoever made the successful nomination will get the chance to stay overnight in the finished exhibit as part of the opening celebrations.

Nominate Your House events will be held at Durham Market Place on Saturday (February 7); Redcar High Street on Friday, February 20; Darlington Market Place on Saturday, February 21; Middlesbrough’s Corporation Road on Thursday, February 26; and Stockton High Street on Saturday, February 28.

The deadline for entries is 9am on Thursday, March 5. The public vote will run from March 27 and 30.

Nominate Your House is part of a £16.7m Remaking Beamish project which also includes plans for an upland farm, a Georgian coaching inn, a windmill and craftsmen’s cottages.
