A TEENAGE boy and three adults have appeared at court accused of conspiring to dispose of evidence in a murder investigation.

Luke Steven Garner, 17, of HM Young Offenders Institute, York Road, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, is charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice between December 22, 2012, and March 8, last year.

He and his co-accused, Claire McQueen, 36, of Hillside Gardens, Stanley, County Durham, Gordon McQueen, 55, of Heather Way, Stanley, and John Wright, 56, of Hillside Gardens, Stanley, are alleged to have conspired to arrange the disposal of evidence relating to the murder of David Scott.

Mr Scott, a 33-year-old father-of-two, died after being stabbed five times with a knife in South Moor, Stanley, shortly after 1am on December 23, 2012.

Magistrates in Newton Aycliffe today (Wednesday, July 9), committed the case to Durham Crown Court on Wednesday, July 23.

No pleas were indicated and Mr Garner was remanded in custody until the next hearing.

The other three defendants received unconditional bail.
