A MAN is facing a prison sentence after admitting a series of sexual offences involving young girls.
Appearing at Durham Crown Court via video link from prison, Colin Golightly, 56, today (Tuesday April 8) pleaded ‘guilty’ to six counts of indecent assault and seven charges of sexual assault.
Sentence was adjourned to allow for the preparation of both a background report on Golightly by the Probation Service and assessment by a psychiatrist.
Judge Christopher Prince, therefore, adjourned the case for two months to allow both reports to be completed.
He also ordered Golightly, of Nightingale Place, Stanley, County Durham, to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.
But he told him: “How long you remain on the register will depend on the length of the sentence you receive.”
Judge Prince agreed that Golightly’s sentencing hearing, on Friday June 6, can be via the prison video link system to prevent the need for him to be brought to court.
