RESIDENTS will be encouraged to adopt a healthier lifestyle when a roadshow bus arrives in town.

The Check4life Roadshow, organised by the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, will be in Stanley tomorrow.

Advisors will be able to offer health assessments at The Louisa Centre, in Front Street, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

The assessment includes a range of simple tests, with participants given plenty of time to discuss the results afterwards.

Jacqui Deakin, from Check4life, said: "The aim is to take our services out to communities, to provide Check4Life health checks for people, who don’t traditionally engage with healthcare services, in accessible venues, such as community centres, shopping centres and at community events.

"We want to provide Check4Life health checks for local people at the right time and in the right place.

"The bus aims to increase access to health improvement and lifestyle services, and make every contact count, by promoting health and wellbeing to help prevent poor health, encourage increased life expectancy and quality of life and reduce the significant health inequalities we have here in County Durham, with conditions such as obesity high on the local agenda."
