FACTORY workers are tackling a 45-mile charity walk in aid of two-year-old leukaemia sufferer Daisy Sayers.
Staff at The Steadfast Group in Peterlee are planning to complete the Weardale Walk inside 24 hours for Daisy, who is undergoing treatment for lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Since her diagnosis, Daisy has been receiving treatment at the RVI in Newcastle which includes chemotherapy and lumbar punctures.
Steadfast staff hope to raise enough money to send Daisy, from Peterlee, her mother Melissa and father Chris and older sister Poppy on the holiday of a lifetime when Daisy is well again.
Steadfast security director Paul Harbord said: “We have a proud tradition of fundraising for charities in the North East and this year we could think of nothing more appropriate than trying to help Daisy and give her family a lift.”
The 28-strong Steadfast Walking Team plan to complete The Weardale Walk – from Cows Hill to Sunderland Bridge – on July 20.
They will be looking for help and support from those they meet along the way on the day, but Daisy charity buckets will also be placed around pubs in Peterlee.
