A SERIES of guided walks take place during the Bank Holiday week celebrating the Durham Heritage Coast.
It features six free walks, led by Heritage Coast officers, along stretches of the coastline, varying from one to nine miles, between Sunderland and Hartlepool.
The first, a circular walk of seven miles, begins and ends at Nose’s Point, south of Seaham, on Monday, at 10am, running along the coastal path to Easington and back.
It is expected to take four-and-a-half hours to complete and walkers are advised to take a packed lunch.
A special walk on Tuesday, at Easington Colliery, marks the 67th anniversary of the village’s pit disaster in which 83 men died in an underground explosion.
