CATERING students are once again opening the doors of their restaurant to host their monthly lunch club for people over the age of 50.
East Durham College’s inter-generational project at its Scene 1 Restaurant gives older people in the area the opportunity to mix with young people who are learning important skills.
It’s the perfect opportunity for those who live alone or need a break from caring to enjoy good food in good company.
Running on the second Thursday of each month all of the meals are prepared, cooked-to-order and served by the college’s aspiring student chefs, waiters and waitresses, supported by qualified and experienced teaching staff.
Diners receive a warm welcome and a delicious, freshly cooked two-course meal with tea or coffee for £5.95.
This is Followed by activities such as bingo, quizzes or beetle drive it is an ideal opportunity to get out of the house.
The next lunch will be held at noon on Thursday November 9.
