POLICE have issued a warning after receiving multiple calls last night about large groups of youths throwing objects at passing vehicles on main roads through Peterlee.
A police spokesman said there had complaints about stone throwing in Surtees Road and in the town centre, causing a danger to traffic.
CCTV and other forms of media are currently being examined to identify the youths responsible.
The spokesman said: "Further to this, we also have had reports from fire service of youths setting fires in the Dene area at the rear of Vibe.
“Again, these youths are causing a danger to themselves and others as well as a drain on already stretched resources.
“We urge parents to speak to their children and educate them as to the dangers of these actions.”
