DETECTIVES will meet residents at a series of roadshows.

Durham Police have organised five events where members of the public to meet their local CID and specialist detective teams.

The first took place in Haswell last night, with the next planned for Horden Youth Community Centre, on October 10.

Further events will take place at Shotton Community Centre on October 18, Seaham Youth Centre on October 26 and Easington Welfare Centre on October 30, between 5pm and 8pm each night.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector, Paul Gray said: “This is an opportunity for people to meet their local detectives.

“These are the individuals who investigate crime and protect vulnerable people.

“We will be on hand to talk about local issues, offer practical tips and information on preventing crime and staying safe, and we will provide specialist advice around community matters, online fraud, cyber-crime, drug and alcohol harm and hate crime.

“These roadshows are about engaging with the people who we are here to keep safe and listening to what they would like us to do.”
