RESCUERS were lowered over the side of a cliff to reach an injured dog.
The rescue operation took place at Chourdon Point, a popular clifftop walk near Seaham, in County Durham, on Sunday evening.
Coastguard volunteers from Seaham, Sunderland and Hartlepool took part in the successful rescue after receiving a call at around 5.45pm.
A Coastguard spokesman said: “Due to the size of the dog and the gradient of the cliff, three rope rescue technicians were lowed to recover the dog back to the top.
“The dog was recovered to its owner who was taking it to the vets for treatment for its injuries”.
