A VILLAGE’S annual scarecrow competition has been extended to take in its namesake neighbouring community.
Easington Village has staged the fun competition for the last four years, attracting between 40 and 60 entrants.
But, this year, the people of nearby Easington Colliery can also try their hand at the traditional rural pursuit.
Separate prizes will be awarded for the best scarecrows in each village, but there are various other joint awards.
Entry forms are available from the Village News and Easington Social Welfare Centre, with a deadline of September 3.
