SEARCH and rescue teams have been out looking for a 65-year-old woman who has been reported missing.

Linda Keating was last seen at her home in the Lorimer’s Close area of Peterlee, County Durham, at 8am on Wednesday.

She is known to enjoy visiting Thirsk, York and the Lake District.

Fourteen Mountain Rescue Volunteers from Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team, supported by four dog handlers from Yorkshire and Northumberland, spent 12 hours searching the area near her home.

A team spokesman said: “The team searched both the parkland within the town and the steep and overgrown ground within Castle Eden Dene.

“No sign of the missing lady was found and the police are continuing to review all the evidence to lead further enquiries.”

Ms Keating was wearing a three quarter length white coat, carrying a shoulder bag and a white plastic bag.

She is of slim build, wears glasses and has short wavy hair.

Sergeant Mike Todd said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned about the whereabouts of Linda. I would urge anyone who has seen her to get in touch.”
