RUNNERS have been invited to book their places on a half-marathon taking in the picturesque Durham Heritage Coast.

Bookings for the 2017 National Trust Durham Coast Half Marathon closes on Friday June 9, with entrants lining up for the race’s 11am start at Nose’s Point, Seaham, on Sunday June 11.

The challenging 13.1 mile route takes in a variety of terrain, along cliff tops and diverting briefly inland at Hawthorn Dene, before continuing south towards the finish at Crimdon Dene.

The toughest aspect is the steep flights of steps, a test for even the hardiest runners.

Marshals and water stations at regular intervals will help keep runners on track and well hydrated.

All runners will get a t-shirt and medal, as well as a free drink and cake at the finish.

Prizes for the first three men and women, as well as age category winners, will be presented at about 2pm.

Entry is via www.sientries.co.uk and costs £28 per person. Minibus transfer from the finish is available.

All profits go directly to the conservation charity.
