A CHURCH is set to host a series of musical events this summer in aid of its roof fund.
St Cuthbert’s Church in Church Bank, Shotley Bridge, will stage the first concert, featuring the Derwent Voices, at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 18.
The all-woman community singing group from Blackhall Mill, will be under the leadership of musician Bethany Coyle, who plans to give a solo performance too.
Church treasurer Lesley Oaken said: “The songs are from all over the world, in all languages and from all eras.”
An additional feature will be St Cuthbert’s Handbell Ringers, a long-established eight-strong group with a track record of performances at many and varied venues.
Member Lynne Severs said: “Over the years we have built up a wide repertoire of music.”
Admission is £5 including refreshments.
