THE family of a biker who died in a road accident at the weekend said he was “Golden by name, golden by nature.’

Frazer Golden collided with another motobike on the A689 at St John’s Chapel, in Weardale, on Sunday afternoon.

The 30-year-old, of Seaham, County Durham, was known among his family and friends for his love of cars and bikes.

Last night his parents Dan and Linda Golden, together with his girlfriend of six years Helen Gaughan said his death will leave “a massive void in everyone’s life.”

They said he was the family “Mr Fix-it” who packed as much into life as he possible could.

In a joint tribute, they said: “Frazer was the cherished son of Linda and Daniel, a beloved brother to Faye and Louise and a loved and adored boyfriend of Helen.

“He was also a lifelong friend to so many people and was Golden by name, golden by nature.

“Frazer was a real gentleman, a thoughtful and trustworthy family guy.

“It was his and Helen’s ambition to restore and travel in their VW Campervan as they loved to travel and enjoy new adventures.

“His many hobbies included sailing, shooting and canoeing and he excelled at everything he did.

“None of us can imagine how our lives will continue without him and his tragic death will leave a massive void.”

The former air cadet had worked at Nissan since he was 18-years-old.

The accident happened at 2.10pm on Sunday and involved a Yamaha and a Honda.

It is believed the two vehicles collided before the Honda motorbike hit a lamppost and a drystone wall.

Motorists were urged to avoid the route, which was closed between St John’s Chapel and Ireshopeburn while the emergency services attended the scene.

The other rider, a 33-year-old man from Hebburn, South Tyneside, was taken to the University Hospital North Durham for treatment.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, especially anyone who might have dashcam footage of either motorbike before the incident, to call the collision investigation unit on 0191-3752159.
