BAKERS and culinary fans marked British pie week at a care home with a bake-off competition of their own.
Members of staff at Blackhall’s Field View care home, along with residents’ family members submitted their best homemade pies and recipes, which were then anonymously taste-tested and judged.
Residents tucked in before scoring them for their presentation and taste.
The winner was domestic assistant Gillian Holmes, with a rhubarb and ginger pie.
Field View manager Michelle Howarth said: “We place a lot of importance on providing our residents with the food they love.
“Many grew up enjoying home-cooked pie dishes so we thought that a great way to celebrate British pie week was to try a selection of traditional and newer recipes.”
