A TEENAGE boy has been left with a stab wound in the stomach following an incident on an housing estate.

Police in have appealed for information after the alleged attack in the area of the Royal Arms in Yoden Road,in Peterlee, on the morning of Saturday, March 4.

A mother posted an image of her son's stomach wound saying: "I am posting this to make people aware of what has gone on in our area.

"On Saturday an 18-year-old was stabbed through the stomach around 6am in the Royal Arms area of Peterlee.

"He was rushed to James Cok Hospital, where he had life-saving major surgery.

"The actual stomach had a hole straight through which was repaired. He had part of his bowel removed. Blood supply vessels fixed and very heavy internal bleeding. This is attempted murder. He does not know the man who did it. So this man capable of murder has not been caught."

Detective Inspector Andy Smith, of Durham Constabulary, said: “Police are currently investigating after a report of a stabbing was made on Monday, March 6.

“It is believed the incident took place on Saturday, March 4, where an 18-year-old man was assaulted in the Royal Arms area of Peterlee.

“Detectives from Peterlee CID are now carrying out inquiries in to the circumstances of the assault and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101.”
