A CELEBRATION of brass music, featuring 13 bands, will be held tomorrow.
A Festival of Brass, organised by the Durham County Brass Band Association, will be at Peterlee’s East Durham College, from 10am.
Lanchester, Craghead Colliery, Trimdon Concert, Jayess Newbiggin, Murton Colliery, Backworth Colliery, Billingham Silver, Ferryhill Town, North Skelton, Durham Miners Association, Easington Colliery E gglescliffe School and Spennymoor Town will compete.
Hugh Stephenson, of the Association, said: “This is an own choice test piece contest and listeners will enjoy ten different pieces of music. Bands will be trying to catch the judge’s ear as they play for total prize money of £1,050, together with 17 trophies and shields across the four sections.” Admission £3 on the door.
