A BRAVE little boy from the North-East appeared as a mascot for a Premier League team which has supported his cause.

Bradley Lowery, who is five and terminally ill, was cheered as he was carried onto the pitch by Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for their match on Sunday.

The Sunderland fan was wearing his home strip with the words ‘Thank You Everton’ in recognition of the support Merseyside fans have shown him.

Before the game kicked off Bradley, from Blackhall Colliery, near Hartlepool, kicked a ball into the Goodison Park net.

He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2013 but his mother recently confirmed he will not be able to beat the disease.

Around £700,000 was raised to fund treatment in the USA, but his mother Gemma Lowery has said the three options presented by a consultant would not cure Bradley’s illness.

Everton pledged £200,000 to the cause in September, when Bradley was mascot for Sunderland’s home game against the Toffees at the Stadium of Light.

Bradley smiled as posed for the pre-match photo alongside officials, Everton captain Gareth Barry and opposition skipper Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta.

People around the country have taken him to their hearts. He received thousands of Christmas cards and has recently returned from a dream holiday in Disneyland Paris.

After the fixture, Everton presented Bradley’s family with the funds raised from an auction of match-worn and signed shirts from the match at the Stadium of Light earlier this season.

His appearance at Goodison Park prompted travelling City fans to bring a banner, which read: “Cancer has no colours, one Bradley Lowery.”
