FIVE people were taken to hospital following a crash between three cars in County Durham on Saturday night.
The accident happened happened on the A19 southbound, between the A182 at Murton and the A182 at Easington, at 7pm.
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service described three people as being “walking wounded”, while another two people were injured.
All five people were taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.
The extent of their injuries are not known.
A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Appliances from Seaham and Peterlee were in attendance on the A19 southbound between Murton and Easington Village.
“Crews were extricating the casualties using Holmatro cutting equipment.”
