A FREE course to help people brush up on their online skills takes place next week.

The interactive session takes place at Horden Youth and Community Centre between 2pm and 4pm on Thursday (Feb 11) and will see people teamed up with a digital champion to highlight the basics of the online world in an informal setting.

The course is part of the “Time to get online” training programme organised by County Durham Housing Group, Dale and Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, East Durham Homes and Teesdale Housing Association and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of digital technology and show people that the internet is not as daunting as it may appear.

Vickie Musgrove, digital inclusion project co-ordinator, said: “Most jobs today require some form of IT skills, and our everyday society is more and more placed within a digital platform.

“We want to show people that online technology is nothing to be afraid of and the benefits in all aspects of life are endless.”
