STUDENTS have staged their own sell-out pantomime.

More than 2,000 people watched the week-long run of Puss In Boots, staged by students from the creative industries department at East Durham College.

The department stages a pantomime week at the college’s main campus in Peterlee every January and this year’s event is the most successful to date.

Creative industries lecturer Billy Nicholson, praised the dedication and hard work of the students over the past month, preparing for the show along with the work they put in last week.

Billy said: “This has been a fantastic show with some great feedback from visitors over the past week.

“The whole team who took part in the show this year have been absolutely brilliant, I am really proud of the hard work and dedication they have put in to making this the best panto we have put on here at the college.

“We love putting on the panto as it gives the students a real insight to what it’s like to work in the industry and what it’s all about.

“And I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has come to see the show over the last week; the students loved performing to a packed house at every show.”
