EAST Durham College barbering students have been treated to a talk from the British Barbering Association (BBA).

The team from the BBA visited the college to talk to students about the history of the barbering trade and run some demonstrations to show students some traditional techniques.

This was the first stop for barbers Mike Taylor and Hannah Grigg, who set up the BBA, as they tour the country to talk to students about the history of the barbering industry and show how important barbering qualifications are to the trade.

College barbering lecturer, Alison Scattergood, thanked the team for visiting and giving her students an insight to the fascinating past of the barbering industry.

She said: “The students really enjoyed learning the history behind the trade, seeing how the industry has changed through the years.

“It was also great to hear Mike and Hannah’s views on barbering education and how important it is to receive your qualifications before going off to work in the industry.”
