TWO men were taken to hospital and a Staffordshire bull terrier was given oxygen by firefighters following a house fire.
The dog was given first aid after being rescued from a bedroom following a fire at a house in Keswick Road, Peterlee, and two men had to be taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital due to smoke inhalation.
Crews from Peterlee and Wheatley Hill fire stations attended the blaze, which was in the first floor bedroom of a home, just before 1am on Tuesday morning.
The dog was trapped in a second bedroom to the rear of the property.
