MEMBERS of staff at a housing group have raised £2,230 for their chairman’s charity.

East Durham Homes chairman Paul Morgan has chosen The Lisa Dixon Centre, home of Haswell & District Mencap, as the good cause he is supporting this year.

To raise money, workers at East Durham Homes arranged a number of events and activities including dress down days, tombolas, raffles, cake sales and quizzes.

Haswell and District Mencap are a charity aimed at providing services, activities and support to people with a learning disability, their families or carers and the wider community.

The cheque was presented to Jean Dixon from The Lisa Dixon Centre at East Durham Homes' annual general meeting.

Mr Morgan said: “I would like to personally thank everyone who has been involved in fundraising events for this very worthwhile cause.

“We hope the money raised will benefit this local charity and the people it supports.”

Mrs Dixon said: “Everyone at Haswell and District Mencap were delighted with the support received from East Durham Homes and sincerely thank everyone for extending the hand of friendship in the direction of our charity, which was truly appreciated.”
