EAST Durham College’s employability team has had another successful year as they help hundreds of people in the local area gain new qualifications, with some people going on to gain employment.

The team this year has seen 100 per cent success and achievement by everyone taking their qualifications.

Nearly 650 people have achieved success in a number of courses run by the team across the last year, with some going on to achieve employment.

Employability courses include advice and guidance on preparation for job interviews, team building and job preparation skills plus advice and support towards becoming self-employed.

Two new courses have been launched and will run regularly. Go Live is an eight-day course offering intensive support with employability skills and personal and social development and Kickstart a four-day course offering support with employability skills and interview techniques.

All courses in employability at East Durham College now benefit from partnerships with The Money Advice Centre and the National Careers Service.

Programme leader for employability at East Durham College, Barbara Archer said: “Our success rates over the last 12 months have continued to keep to an unbelievable standard that we aim to continue.”
