TWO men and a woman have appeared in court this morning (Thursday, August 27) following an investigation into alleged blackmail.
Paul Frain, 47, of North Road, Wingate; Subtain Mohsan Shah, 45, of Front Street West, Wingate and Lisa Dixon, 44, of Coronation Road, Wingate, appeared before magistrates sitting in Peterlee.
They have been charged with perverting the course of justice and remanded into custody ahead of their first appearance at Durham Crown Court on September 10.
David Still, 45, of Coronation Road, Wingate, is also charged with perverting the course of justice as well as blackmail.
He is currently in custody ahead of a hearing at Durham Crown Court on September 14.
Police said another man and a woman have been arrested and released on police bail until the end of September pending further enquiries.
