A HORSE fair and parade is planned for bank holiday weekend.
The event will be held near South Hetton, east Durham from Thursday, August 27 to Monday, August 31.
The site is off the A182 South Hetton Road, near the roundabout to the A19, Easington Village and Durham Lane towards Haswell Plough.
A horse drive is planned, starting at noon on Monday, August 31. This will begin and end at the site, taking in South Hetton and Haswell, and lasting about one hour.
Police say they are in discussions with the event organisers.
A Durham Police spokesman said: “We have no reason to believe there will be any problems or incidents related to this but understand that members of the community may be concerned.
“With this in mind there will be a policing and council presence in the area throughout the event.
“As well as having officers on site you can ring 101 to speak with the neighbourhood policing team.
“A mobile police information point will also be nearby should anyone want to drop in. Neighbourhood wardens will be on duty.”
Anyone with concerns can call Durham Police on 101.
