YOUNG firefighters looking forward to a summer camp have received a cash boost.
The Young Firefighters Association (YFA) has been given £450 from the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service members’ initiative fund.
The cash will be used to buy tables, folding chairs and a barbecue.
It was presented by Councillor Audrey Laing, the vice chair of the fire authority.
She said: “Our members are strong supporters of the YFA so we were keen to help them obtain the camping equipment they need.
“The activities arranged through the YFA encourage team building, health and well-being and a whole range of skills that young people can use throughout their school years and beyond. We hope they enjoy the rest of their summer.”
Jonathan Smith, the assistant district manager at Peterlee, said: “The equipment will not only be used in Peterlee but by all our YFA groups across County Durham and Darlington.
“We are very grateful to Councillor Laing for the help and support.”
