A TRIAL date has been set in the case of a man accused of attempted murder during an early hours’ disturbance as a pub was closing.
Forty-year-old Steven Robinson is alleged to have stabbed a 33-year-old man several times during the incident at The Oaklands, in Durham Way, Peterlee, on July 26.
Emergency services found the victim bleeding heavily from the wounds and he was taken for treatment to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he was subsequently described as in a, “serious, but stable condition”.
Robinson, of Elliott Road, Peterlee, was arrested at the scene and interviewed before being charged with attempted murder.
Magistrates in Peterlee sent the case to crown court and Robinson appeared at a preliminary hearing before the Recorder of Newcastle, Judge Paul Sloan, via video link from Durham Prison, at Newcastle Crown Court today (Monday August 10).
A trial date was agreed, to start at the court on January 25, with an estimated five-day listing.
Judge Sloan adjourned the case and remanded Robinson to remain in custody.
He will next appear, also via video link, at a plea and case management hearing, on October 19.
