COMMUNITY groups are invited to apply for funding for projects aimed at children during the school holidays.

Projects in East Durham are invited to apply for cash grants which will benefit children and young people over the summer.

Organisers hope to provide an exciting programme of activities although the emphasis will be placed on providing healthy and nourishing food to address the issue of “Holiday Hunger” when free school meals are no longer available over the sic week holidays.

Grants ranging from £250 to £3,000 are available from the East Durham Area Action Partnership for activities taking place in East Durham in the upcoming year.

The Partnership is one of 14 set up by Durham County Council in 2009 to help the authority work with residents to give them a say on how money should be spent locally.

Groups can apply for the funding with a closing date of July 6.
