POLICE have urged people to beware of scammers after an elderly woman in Seaham was called by someone yesterday(Thursday, March 26) claiming she had won money. In order to receive this money the pensioners would need to get her personal documents, including a passport, and then they would send a courier to escort her to the bank where she would have to withdraw £270 in order for them to release the cheque. The woman agreed to do so and once they hung up she rang the police. Anyone with information should contact Durham Police on 101.
